Company Information

Our investments in electric and gas transmission projects expand and diversify Con Edison's energy portfolio to provide greater access to clean energy supplies and more competitive pricing for customers.

Company History

Con Edison Transmission, Inc., (CET) was established in January 2016 after parent company Consolidated Edison, Inc., identified transmission as a key area of expertise and focus for growth in the clean energy future. Con Edison has over 100 years of experience developing, constructing, maintaining, and operating transmission facilities. CET’s portfolio of investments includes both electric and gas transmission, with significant growth in electric transmission projects to meet the nation's energy needs.

Electric transmission, in particular, will enable the flow of renewable electricity and will be needed to meet increased customer demand for vehicle and heating electrification. Our mission is to become a leading developer and long-term owner of transmission that enables the clean energy transition. CET’s transmission solutions will cost-effectively and reliably deliver clean energy to demand centers. Our solutions are right-sized and expandable to meet future growth. CET’s transmission development footprint includes projects in PJM Interconnection, New York, New England, the Midwest, and offshore.

Building the Energy Grid of the Future

Transmission helps us meet state and federal clean energy goals while continuing to provide customers the affordable, dependable power they expect and deserve.

We plan to invest more than $1 billion over the next 5 to 10 years to develop electric transmission to bring clean, renewable energy from where it is produced to where it is needed to serve customers, advocating a “transmission first” approach (building out the transmission capacity before focusing on building renewable assets) where appropriate and furthering the nation’s goal of 100% clean electricity by 2035.
